How Can You Plan an Elegant Wedding at Shadowbrook at Shrewsbury?
Updated: 4 days ago
When you turn onto our property at 1 Obre Place, the first thing you will notice is how quiet it is. We sit on eighteen acres in Shrewsbury, New Jersey, with a Georgian mansion at the center. That privacy is not just a nice detail for photos. It shapes how your day actually runs, from the moment your guests arrive to the last course after dinner. Here is how we help you plan a wedding at Shadowbrook.
Planning Your Wedding at Shadowbrook, From First Look to Last Dance
Every wedding we host moves through the same stretch of hours, but no two days look alike. You will want to know how we handle your guest count, what happens between arrival and dessert, and who is guiding the details while you are busy being married. Here is what that looks like when you work with us.
A Private Estate Where We Host One Wedding at a Time
We sit on 18 secluded acres, and we host one event at a time, so the day you have been planning is the only one happening on our property. Our mansion was designed by architects Lewis Colt Albro and Harrie T. Lindeberg in the Georgian style. Our Grand Ballroom, added in 2019, holds up to 600 guests under 30 foot ceilings, with a Newport inspired fireplace, crystal chandeliers, a dueling grand staircase, and a stage built for a full swing band. Whether your list is 80 or 600, our space and our privacy scale with you. We also host outdoor ceremonies for couples who want to exchange vows outside before moving into the ballroom for the reception.
How Your Day Moves, From Cocktail Hour to Dinner
We greet your guests with champagne garnished with strawberries and edible flowers, served butler style, alongside a full open bar with premium liquors, California wines, domestic champagne, imported and domestic beers, and San Pellegrino. During cocktail hour, we pass hors d'oeuvres and set up stations that include a raw bar with little neck clams and blue point oysters, a sushi and sashimi bar, a carving station, a pasta station, a wok station, and a wine and cheese display carved into an ice sculpture. We follow with dinner, starting with a first course of Maryland crab cake, a mango sorbet intermezzo, and entrees such as chateaubriand with burgundy truffle reduction or pan seared halibut, with a vegetarian option available on request. We close the night with a custom tiered wedding cake and our signature dessert plate, prepared by our award winning culinary team.
What We Include With Your Booking
Your package includes our arrival champagne service, our full open bar, our butler style cocktail hour, our dinner service, and your custom wedding cake, all prepared by our own culinary team and coordinated by our in house event planners. We also offer a few stations at an additional charge, including a seafood extravaganza, a hibachi grill station, and a Viennese dessert display with chocolate fountains and gelato, so it is worth reviewing these with us early in your planning.
A Building With a Story Behind Every Room
Part of what sets us apart is our history. Our foyer’s honeycombed wood ceiling came from an English castle, and our restored antique doors leading into it stand 11.5 feet tall. Two galleries off our foyer carry wooden panels salvaged from the Villard Houses on Madison Avenue, now part of the Helmsley Palace Hotel. Our Horseshoe Bar has a brass rail made by a Monmouth County artisan, and the chandelier atop our grand staircase came from the ballroom of New York’s Biltmore Hotel.
We Welcome Couples From Monmouth County, Morris County, Bergen County, and Manhattan
We sit in Monmouth County, a natural fit for local couples, though a meaningful share of our inquiries come from Morris County, Bergen County, and Manhattan as well. If you are weighing a longer drive against what is closer to home, it helps to think about the trade: a shorter commute for your guests against a private, single event estate with the same in house culinary and planning team involved in your wedding from our first conversation through your final course, which is part of why we are known for consistency.
Conclusion
We are not a venue you share with another wedding party or squeeze into a tight timeline. We offer 18 private acres, a mansion built in 1910, and a team that handles your champagne, your cocktail hour, your dinner, and your cake, all in house. If that sounds like the day you are picturing, the next step is simple. Reach out, tell us your date and guest count, and let's start planning together.
